 Face Your Fears to Raise Your Self-Esteem


Both people with high self-esteem and people with low self-esteem have fears. The difference lies in how they face these fears.

People with low self-esteem doubt their own ability to deal with scary situations and therefore avoid them. Instead of facing their fears they push them away. People with high self-esteem on liv @ mb price the other hand know that even though they are scared they will manage to survive any situation.

To raise your self-esteem and develop higher confidence in your own ability you can practise to face your fears. Write a list over all the things that you are scared of and decide to practise by putting yourself in some (or each) of these scary situations.

Next time you feel fear, ask yourself: What is the worst that could happen? Could you deal with that? In most cases you will realise that the worst is not that bad after all. You would be able to deal with it. If you fear failure (such as failing with some project or not achieving a goal that you have set for yourself), realise that failing would not actually change much. It would simply keep you in the same situation where you are now. For example, if you feel nervous about failing a job interview, the worst thing that could happen is that you do not get the job, and that would simply bring you back to square one. If you fear losing something that is very dear to you, think about how you survived before you had what it is you fear to lose. There are very few situations that you truly would not be able to deal with.
